Cedar Grove Park is a proposed residential neighborhood located in Petaluma, California. The 7.4-acre project runs along side the Petaluma River and is less than one-half mile from historic downtown Petaluma. The environmental analysis and conceptual design of the site plan and homes has been completed. Access to the site is secured via an approved new vehicular bridge over the Petaluma River. Access is further provided via an existing crossing over the existing railroad crossing.
Following endorsement by SPARC (Design Review) and Parks and
Recreation Committee, a formal development application was submitted
to the City in Q1 2006.
In 2010 the project was
re-positioned
from 60 single family homes to a Transit Oriented Development (TOD).
The revised conceptual design includes
over 150 apartments.
The design is based upon policies promoted in the City’s newly adopted General Plan such as Transit Oriented Development (TOD), green building practices, pedestrian and bicycle connections to the Downtown, and the need for affordable housing and higher densities. The plan includes a mix of single family row homes and a mix of 3-story tuck under apartments
Meetings were held individually with members of the City Council and
received extremely positive feedback on the new plan. The project
was assigned an outside planner and a preliminary submittal has been
introduced to the city.
